At around 9:40 a.m. today (5th), a passenger car crashed into a median barrier near the Songchu Interchange on the Seoul Ring Expressway heading toward Uijeongbu in Jangheung-myeon, Yangju, Gyeonggi Province.

The driver, a man in his 30s, was injured in the crash and taken to a hospital. A fire subsequently broke out in the car and was extinguished by firefighters dispatched to the scene.

Police and fire authorities controlled some of the lanes to handle the aftermath of the accident, causing traffic congestion in the surrounding area.

Police plan to investigate the exact circumstances of the accident involving the driver.
