A man in his 70s has died after falling into the water while gathering freshwater snails in Noksu Valley, Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi Province.

At approximately 5:19 p.m. yesterday (September 4), a report was received that a man in his 70s, identified only by his surname A, had fallen into the water near Noksu Valley in Sang-myeon, Gapyeong-gun.

Mr. A, who was drifting in the water, was rescued by his companions and transported to a hospital in a state of cardiac arrest while receiving cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) from emergency responders, but he ultimately passed away.

Police and fire authorities believe Mr. A fell into the water while gathering freshwater snails and are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.

In Noksu Valley, a similar fatal incident occurred on August 9 of last month, when a woman in her 60s went missing while catching freshwater snails and was later found dead.
