The professional baseball team KIA Tigers secured a thrilling come-from-behind victory over the league-leading KT Wiz thanks to a walk-off sacrifice hit by Byun Woo-hyuk in the 10th inning.

The fourth-place KIA claimed a 4-3 victory against KT in their regular-season home game of the 2026 Shinhan SOL KBO League held at Gwangju-KIA Champions Field on the 4th.

With this win, KIA widened the gap with the fifth-place Doosan Bears to 3.5 games, while the first-place KT maintained a 0.5-game lead over the second-place Samsung Lions, who lost on the same day.

KIA maintained a 0-0 tie, propelled by starting pitcher Adam Oller, who did not allow a single hit until the two-out mark in the sixth inning.

However, as Oller's stamina waned in the seventh inning, he gave up two runs, putting KIA behind 0-2.

In the bottom of the seventh, KIA effectively capitalized on the control struggles of opposing pitcher Koki Sugimoto to turn the game around to 3-2, but surrendered the tying run in the top of the ninth.

KIA closer Lee 의-li threw a headshot to Jang Jin-hyuk with no outs and a runner on first. Because Jang did not pull back from his bunt stance, it was ruled a swing, preventing an ejection order.

Fortunately, Jang walked safely into the dugout without any major issues, but Lee subsequently wavered severely and conceded a run, allowing a 3-3 tie.

The game was decided in the bottom of the 10th inning.

After Park Jeong-woo and Jung Hyun-chang drew consecutive walks off opposing pitcher Ju Kwon, Kim Ho-ryung hit a sacrifice bunt to set up a one-out opportunity with runners on second and third.

Following an intentional walk to Han Jun-su that loaded the bases with one out, Byun Woo-hyuk—who entered as a late-inning defensive replacement in the top of the 10th—strongly hit the first pitch from changed pitcher Moon Yong-ik deep into center field to bring the game to a close.

Oller recorded 6.2 innings, 3 hits, 3 walks, and 10 strikeouts with 2 runs allowed, but did not factor in the decision.

He had to settle for recording strikeouts against every starting batter.

KIA's Kim Do-young performed well with 1 hit in 3 at-bats, 2 walks, 1 stolen base, and 1 run scored, but failed to produce his 40th home run of the season.

Kim must hit a home run by the 6th to break the record set by Lee Seung-yeop in 1999 for the youngest player in KBO League history to reach 40 home runs.

At Jamsil Stadium in Seoul, the third-place LG Twins extended their winning streak to five games by defeating Samsung 4-3, propelled by the save pitching of returning hard-throwing pitcher Go Woo-suk.

Taking the mound in the top of the ninth inning with a 4-3 lead, Go initially appeared shaky, issuing a straight walk to the first batter, Lewin Díaz.

However, he preserved the victory by striking out Yang Woo-hyun on three pitches, striking out Ryu Ji-hyeok swinging, and getting Kang Min-ho to fly out to second base.

This marked 1,078 days since Go last appeared in a KBO League regular-season game on September 22, 2023, against the NC Dinos, and 1,081 days since his last save on September 19, 2023, against the KIA Tigers.

He also reached the milestone of 140 career saves, the 14th in KBO League history.


The sixth-place NC Dinos won 6-1 in their away game against the Kiwoom Heroes held at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul.

Extending their winning streak to six games, the NC Dinos narrowed the gap with the fifth-place Doosan Bears—who lost to the SSG Landers on this day—to 4.5 games.

NC, which had trailed Doosan by 8 games as of August 31, reduced the deficit to nearly half in just four days.

Leading 3-1 in the top of the fifth inning, NC's leadoff hitter Park Min-우 hit a single up the middle and stole a base to create a two-out opportunity with a runner on second, after which Kim 휘-jip hit an RBI double to left-center to extend the lead to 4-1.

In the eighth inning, with two outs and runners on second and third, Blaine hit a two-run RBI double to left field to stretch the score to 6-1 and secure the momentum for victory.

Choi Jung-won performed strongly with 2 hits in 3 at-bats, 2 walks, and 2 runs scored, while Park Min-woo contributed with 2 hits in 5 at-bats, 2 stolen bases, 1 RBI, and 1 run scored.

SSG defeated Doosan 4-0 at Incheon SSG Landers Field, fueled by Jeon 의-san's back-to-back home runs and a shutout pitching performance by foreign pitcher Pedro Ávila.

Doosan fell into a four-game losing streak.

Leading 1-0 with two outs, SSG widened the gap to 3-0 when Jeon Eui-san and Cho Hyeong-woo hit consecutive solo home runs off Doosan starting pitcher Park Shin-ji.

In the bottom of the sixth inning with one out, Jeon Eui-san blasted a solo home run over the center-field wall off changed pitcher Lee Yong-chan to pull ahead 4-0.

After escaping a bases-loaded jam with one out in the top of the eighth inning without conceding a run, Ávila took the mound again in the ninth to achieve his first complete-game shutout since debuting in the KBO League.

Jeon Eui-san recorded 2 hits in 3 at-bats including 2 home runs, 2 RBIs, and 2 runs scored, while Ávila pitched brilliantly with 9 innings, 3 hits allowed, 1 walk, 5 strikeouts, and no runs allowed.

This marks the third complete-game shutout in the KBO League this season, following Adam Oller of the KIA Tigers against the Lotte Giants on April 25 and Yang Chang-sub of the Samsung Lions against Lotte on May 24.

At Sajik Baseball Stadium in Busan, the ninth-place Hanwha Eagles pounded out 18 hits to rout the seventh-place Lotte Giants 14-4, snapping their nine-game losing streak.

Hanwha's Noh Si-hwan performed strongly with 2 hits in 5 at-bats, including his 26th home run of the season, 3 RBIs, and 2 runs scored.
