A Chinese tourist who illegally filmed women's bodies in crowded areas such as Seongsu-dong and Mapo has been referred to the prosecutors.
The Seoul Seongdong Police Station announced that it has sent a man in his 20s of Chinese nationality, identified as A, to the prosecution without detention on charges of violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Sexual Crimes (taking photos using cameras and other devices).
A, who entered the country in July, was caught red-handed on August 4 at a cafe in Seongsu-dong, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, on charges of illegally filming a woman's body.
During the investigation, police additionally confirmed that A had illegally filmed women in multiple locations, including Mapo, Yeongdeungpo, and Seongsu-dong.
The total number of victims is reportedly 27.
Police placed a travel ban on A on August 5.
