The film 'The Intern' is set to hit theaters with robust support and encouragement from the director of the original work.

'The Intern' depicts an office life that transcends generations and job ranks, beginning when 'Sun-woo' (Han So-hee), who rapidly emerged as a dark horse in the fashion industry three years after launch, is joined by 'Gi-ho' (Choi Min-sik), a 37-year-old veteran silver intern. Nancy Meyers, who wrote and directed the 2015 original film that became a global box office hit and remains a "life movie" for many, delivered a special message of support for the Korean remake.

As a veteran director who has excelled across writing, directing, and producing in Hollywood with works such as 'The Holiday' and 'Something's Gotta Give', Meyers expressed profound affection for the original film, stating, "It started from the wish that someone had been there to quietly support me during my youth."

She continued, "I was delighted to hear that it is being newly produced in Korea, and as a creator, I am very thrilled. It is deeply meaningful that this story can resonate across different cultures," conveying high expectations for 'The Intern' as it is reborn through Korean sentiment and office culture.

She also expressed trust in lead actors Choi Min-sik and Han So-hee. Regarding Choi Min-sik, who plays the silver intern 'Gi-ho', she remarked, "I was genuinely happy to hear the casting news of Choi Min-sik, a representative actor of Korean cinema. I have high expectations that he will showcase a depth, dignity, and delight distinct from Robert De Niro."

In addition, regarding Han So-hee, who transforms into workaholic CEO 'Sun-woo', she noted, "I believe she will charmingly and effectively portray a confident, energetic, and modern leader. I am already curious about the special chemistry the two actors will present," lending strength to their synergy. Finally, sending an affectionate greeting to Korean audiences, she added, "I am always grateful to the Korean fans who deeply loved the original. I hope you will feel warm laughter and comfort through the Korean version of 'The Intern', and I sincerely cheer for it to remain a long-remembered work for everyone."

'The Intern' will be released in theaters across nine Asian countries, including Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia, on October 16 (Friday), one month after its domestic release. This marks the largest scale in the Asian region among Korean film projects presented by Warner Bros. Korea.
