A woman in her 30s, whom police had been tracking following a missing person report by her family, was found dead alongside a man in his 40s inside a container in Anseong, Gyeonggi Province.

Police are investigating the case, believing that the two individuals, who had each been reported missing from different regions, met online and attempted to take their own lives together.

The Anseong Police Station in Gyeonggi Province found Ms. A, in her 30s, and Mr. B, in her (or his) 40s, inside a container in a vacant lot in Bogae-myeon, Anseong-si, at around 9:00 p.m. yesterday (Sept. 3).

At the time of their discovery, Ms. A was already dead.

Mr. B was transferred to a hospital intensive care unit for treatment and is reportedly not in critical condition.

Police presume that the two met recently through an online community and attempted to make an extreme choice.

Earlier, after failing to get in touch with Ms. A since the night of August 31, her family reported her missing to the police at around 2:19 p.m. on September 2.

The police station with jurisdiction over Ms. A's residence tracked her cell phone location and confirmed that she had traveled to Anseong.

Subsequently, at around 2:39 p.m. on the same day, they requested cooperation from the Anseong Police Station.

Police mobilized around 50 personnel, focusing on a 1.5-kilometer radius around the cell tower's location.

After searching for over a full day with the deployment of rescue dogs and drones, they discovered the two individuals.

According to the findings, Mr. B had also been reported missing from another region at around 11:17 a.m. on August 31.

A police official stated, "It appears that the two individuals, who got to know each other via the internet, attempted to make an extreme choice in the Anseong area where they have no personal connections."

Police plan to conduct an autopsy on the body of the deceased Ms. A to determine the exact cause of death.

They also intend to investigate the specific circumstances as soon as Mr. B recovers.
