The Korean Financial Industry Union (KFIU) is launching a large-scale strike in opposition to the government's plan to relocate public financial institutions to regional areas.

The KFIU announced that it will hold its first general strike rally at 11:00 a.m. today (September 4) around Sejong-daero in Gwanghwamun, Seoul.

According to the union's preliminary estimates, about 20,000 people are expected to participate in the rally.

The union explained that although it has been negotiating with management since last April, they failed to reach agreements on key demands, including the introduction of a 4.5-day workweek, wage negotiations, and halting the relocation of financial institutions to regional areas.
