Many of you likely check how many calories you've burned with a smartwatch while working out.
However, research results have emerged showing that you should beware of margins of error and not take those numbers at face value.
A research team at Florida International University in the United States compared the accuracy of exercise calorie measurements across four types of smartwatches among 58 adults.
The study revealed significant discrepancies between the calories calculated by the smartwatches and the calories actually burned.
In particular, the measurement error tended to increase for individuals with higher body fat percentages.
The researchers explained that calorie consumption figures from smartwatches should be viewed as rough reference values rather than precise measurements.
