National football team forward Hwang Hee-chan transferred to German club Schalke on the transfer window deadline.

This marks his return to the Bundesliga after 5 years.

After joining Wolverhampton in 2021 and playing in the Premier League, Hwang pursued a transfer when the team was relegated last season.

After deep deliberation until just before the deadline, he decided on Schalke, whose manager actively pursued him.

The contract is reportedly in the form of a a 1-year loan with an option for a permanent transfer next summer for approximately 4.8 billion won.

Returning to the German stage 5 years after leaving Leipzig, Hwang is preparing for his debut match on the 6th against Bayern Munich, where his close friend Kim Min-jae holds the line.
