Major Commercial Banks Provide Financial Support for SMEs Ahead of Chuseok

Major commercial banks are launching special financial support programs for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and small business owners ahead of the Chuseok holiday.

According to the financial sector today (the 2nd), KB Kookmin, Shinhan, Hana, and Woori Bank will each supply 15.2 trillion won in funds to SMEs and individual business operators.

By bank, the support consists of 6.2 trillion won in new loans and 9 trillion won in maturity extensions.

The support period runs identically from August 24 to October 16.

Loans are available up to 1 billion won per company within the scope of required funds.

The banks will allow maturity extensions without the condition of paying back part of the principal upon maturity, and will also support the deferral of installment repayments.

In addition, preferential interest rates of up to 1.5 percentage points will be applied.

Meanwhile, NH Nonghyup Bank will supply a total of 13.575 trillion won in funds, consisting of 5.075 trillion won in new loans and 8.5 trillion won in maturity extensions.

Its support period runs until October 12, offering a preferential interest rate of 0.1 percentage points.

Separately, Hana Bank will operate its "Mobile Hana Bank" at the Yangjae Meeting of Roads Rest Area on September 23 and 24 to hold a banknote exchange event for holiday travelers.
