Former Korea Football Association (KFA) President Chung Mong-gyu, who is suspected of unfairly intervening in the appointment process of former national football team head coach Hong Myung-bo, appeared before the police today (the 2nd).

The Financial Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency summoned Chung as a suspect around 11:50 a.m. today and is questioning him.

Upon arriving for the police questioning, in response to reporters' questions asking why he unfairly interfered in the coach appointment process, Chung answered, "I believe there was no unfair interference whatsoever."

The police are investigating whether upper-level figures, including former President Chung and then-KFA Technical Director Lee Im-saeng, made unfair interventions during the appointment process of former coach Hong Myung-bo in 2024.

Previously, the police privately summoned and questioned former national team head coach Hong Myung-bo last month and conducted a seizure and search of the Korea Football Association.
