Park Sun-won, a Supreme Council member of the main opposition Democratic Party (DP) belonging to the pro-Lee Jae-myung faction, criticized Cho Kuk, director of the Innovation Policy Institute of the Rebuilding Korea Party, saying, "I have no choice but to call it ungrateful," today (Sept. 2).

During a Supreme Council meeting held at Sejong City Hall earlier today, Supreme Council Member Park criticized the remarks, stating, "Former leader Cho's comments are deeply regrettable."

He also remarked, "This cannot be the language of a comrade," and asked, "What on earth are you so bitter about?"

Although Park did not specify what remarks by Director Cho he was referring to, it is believed to target a post Cho uploaded on Facebook the previous day concerning the special counsel bill on fabricated indictments and the dismissal of indictments.

In his Facebook post regarding the DP's special counsel bill on fabricated indictments, Cho wrote, "To dismiss an indictment on the grounds of a 'fabricated indictment,' the 'fabrication' must first be confirmed." He added, "If the dismissal of the indictment against President Lee Jae-myung is pushed through while ignoring this, it will inevitably lead to political and legal disgrace."

Cho also claimed, "The DP welcomed the guilty verdict against Yoon Suk Yeol under the Public Official Election Act for making false statements," adding, "Unless the Supreme Court's legal doctrine is overturned once again, there is a very high possibility that a guilty verdict will be handed down in the second-trial proceedings that will resume after President Lee's term ends."
