Lee Hyun-seob, the grandfather of Peppertones member Lee Jang-won and the grandfather-in-law of musical actor Bae Da-hae, has passed away.

On the September 1 broadcast of the SBS program "You're my destiny", the recent update of Lee Jang-won and Bae Da-hae moving in with his 100-year-old grandfather was featured. At the end of the broadcast, the production team delivered the heartbreaking news through a subtitle reading, "Grandfather Lee Hyun-seob has passed away in peace."

Lee Jang-won and Bae Da-hae first revealed the fact that they moved in with his grandfather through a broadcast last July.

Bae Da-hae stated, "We got a roommate. We are living together with my 100-year-old grandfather-in-law," and Lee Jang-won explained, "We prepared to move in together since last fall, and it has been 5 months now."

Regarding the background of moving in together, Bae Da-hae explained, "It has been 30 years since my grandmother-in-law passed away. Since then, my grandfather has lived alone. My parents-in-law live in the countryside and his sisters live nearby, taking turns caring for him for 30 years. This situation was already anticipated even before our marriage."

Grandfather Lee Hyun-seob was known to have led a vigorous daily life defying his age of 100.

He directly called taxis using a smartphone, ate a breakfast of vegetable juice and boiled eggs every morning, and read the newspaper. He also touched hearts by writing in his diary, "It feels like people actually live here now that the kids are around, rather than being alone in a large house."

On the September 1 broadcast of "You're my destiny", which was his final appearance, Grandfather Lee Hyun-seob was shown meeting Bae Da-hae's 5-year-old nephew, Rowoon. In this broadcast, the grandfather smiled reading a letter handwritten by Rowoon and handed him a 50,000-won bill as allowance.

Grandfather Lee Hyun-seob was born in Anju, Pyongannam-do in 1926 and moved to Seoul in 1940. He graduated from the 9th class of the Korea Military Academy and has a history of participating in the Korean War. After being discharged, he worked as the Tokyo branch manager for the Korea Shipping Corporation, which was managed by the Korea University Foundation, for about 6 years. Afterwards, through interviews with officials from the Five Pyongan Provinces Joint Administration Office, he shared memories of crossing the 38th parallel and stories from his time participating in the war.
