Actor Kim Ji-won is set to undergo a dramatic transformation as a dark hero leading the first medical genre in SBS's refreshing universe.

The production team for the new SBS Friday-Saturday drama "Doctor X: Age of the White Mafia" (written by Lee Jung-rim, directed by Pyeon Seung-geun), premiering on Friday, October 9, released the first stills of Kim Ji-won in the role of protagonist Gye Soo-jung.

"Doctor X" is a refreshing medical noir depicting the activities of Doctor X Gye Soo-jung, the "crazy hound of the operating room" who shatters massive absurdities with uncompromised, genius surgical skills. The drama is drawing intense attention as director Lee Jung-rim of "VIP" and "Revenant" teams up with rookie writer Pyeon Seung-geun, alongside actors Kim Ji-won, Lee Jung-eun, Son Hyun-joo, and Kim Woo-seok.

In the released stills, Kim Ji-won appears in a pitch-black leather coat instead of a white lab coat, exuding an overwhelming aura. Dispatched from a freelance doctor employment agency to Guseo University Hospital, Gye Soo-jung is set to shake up the hospital's power dynamics by cutting away medical corruption fueled solely by her unmatched skills. Her relentless gaze and charisma, which allow not a single error on the operating table, raise expectations.

The production team of "Doctor X" stated, "From her very first shoot, Kim Ji-won was 'Gye Soo-jung' herself, right down to her vocal tone, gaze, and habits. It is impossible to imagine Gye Soo-jung as anyone other than Kim Ji-won," adding, "Please look forward to the birth of a medical dark hero," foreshadowing the creation of an unprecedented character.

The new SBS Friday-Saturday drama "Doctor X: Age of the White Mafia" will premiere on Friday, October 9, at 9:50 PM.
