Internet broadcaster Se Yeon, who was booked by police on charges of administering psychotropic drugs, directly addressed the situation through a live broadcast on the same day reports broke.
According to reports on September 1st, three individuals including Se Yeon and Streamer K were booked by the Seoul Gangnam Police Station on July 30th on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act. They are under police investigation regarding the use of Zolpidem, a sleeping pill classified as a psychotropic drug.
Streamer K is also facing separate charges of having an acquaintance obtain sleeping pills on his behalf and receiving them, and he acknowledged being investigated for the charges during a personal broadcast on August 27th.
Se Yeon hosted a personal broadcast on SOOP on the 1st to directly explain the suspicions that surfaced that day. She asked, "Did you all see the articles?", and explained, "The incident happened in June, and the articles came out almost two and a half months later."
While Se Yeon acknowledged that she was investigated alongside Streamer K, she drew a line regarding the proxy prescription allegations.
She emphasized, "I didn't get a proxy prescription. Oppa and I were investigated regarding proxy prescriptions. That's a fact. People say I got a proxy prescription and was investigated together, but that's not a fact," adding, "Something happened with Oppa, so I took a lot of medicine. Oppa's medicine." She explained that the issue arose during the process of visiting the emergency room, leading to the investigation.
Seemingly conscious of potential suspicions that her recently bleached hair might be an attempt to evade the investigation, she offered an explanation beforehand. Se Yeon claimed, "I already cut 100 strands of hair when I was investigated. It was when my hair was black. Since it's already in the past, the bleaching has nothing to do with the test."
Her romantic partner, Streamer K, also made an appearance during the broadcast. Streamer K entered Se Yeon's broadcast and publicly showed support by gifting 1.25 million won worth of Star Balloons.
As related questions continued, Se Yeon re-emphasized her position by displaying a text on the broadcast screen that read, "I didn't do drugs. I didn't get proxy prescriptions. I was investigated before bleaching my hair. I am sorry for causing concern."
Meanwhile, Se Yeon and Streamer K overcame an 11-year age gap and went public with their relationship last April.
Streamer K began broadcasting in 2012 and has approximately 700,000 subscribers, while Se Yeon began her internet broadcasting activities in 2019 and has about 300,000 subscribers. Se Yeon gained public recognition through her appearance on the Netflix original variety show "The Influencer", and also drew attention in 2024 when she was spotted with Hybe Chairman Bang Si-hyuk in the United States.
