[Anchor] Did you hear about a man who was caught by the police for secretly taking someone else's dog?

[Reporter] Yes, an 80-something man identified as A is accused of taking a dog from in front of a scrap yard in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul, last month without the owner's permission.

At the time, the dog was wearing a collar and tied to a leash, making it clear that it had an owner.

While taking the dog to his home, Mr. A abandoned it instead of returning it to its original spot because it kept barking. He tied it up on a roadside a 20-to-30-minute walk away from the scrap yard and left it there.

During police questioning, Mr. A reportedly stated, "I have lived alone all my life and felt lonely, but the dog looked pretty and I wanted to live with it."

Under current law, companion dogs are classified as "property," so taking someone else's dog without permission can constitute theft.
