When a new bridge is completed, people naturally want to take its very first steps together with joyful hearts.

However, an accident occurred in Indonesia where a bridge collapsed completely just as its opening ceremony concluded.

The scene was the opening ceremony of a suspension bridge held in a village in West Java, Indonesia.

People, ranging from the regional district head to government officials and local residents, lined up to cross the suspension bridge.

Suddenly, the bridge began to shake violently before its deck tilted to one side and sank straight down.

Dozens of people who were on the bridge grabbed onto the railings and screamed, turning the scene into utter chaos in an instant.

This bridge was installed at a height of up to 40 meters from the riverbed.

It was reported that the accident occurred when about 50 people crossed the bridge at the same time.

Authorities believe that some of the bridge's anchoring devices were damaged and are investigating the exact cause of the accident.
