Two oil tankers, including one owned by South Korean shipping company Sinokor Merchant Marine, were reportedly hit while passing through the Strait of Hormuz on August 31 (local time), the Financial Times (FT) reported.

Citing maritime security analysts, the FT reported that the Senegal Prosperity, owned by Sinokor, and the Sidr, an oil tanker owned by Saudi Arabia, were attacked.

However, the FT added that official confirmation regarding details such as the vessel names has not been established due to poor communications in the Strait of Hormuz.

Earlier, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) stated in a notice that a vessel had been struck by three unidentified projectiles, though it did not disclose the name of the ship.

Sinokor has not yet responded to requests for confirmation regarding the vessel being hit, according to the FT.

The incident occurred amid ongoing military clashes between the U.S. and Iran, as Washington resumed attacks against Iran in the Strait of Hormuz for the first time in a month.
