The government has carried out a large-scale reshuffle of high-ranking police officials for the second half of the year.

Out of 18 provincial and metropolitan police agency chiefs across the country, 14 were replaced, including the appointment of Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency Chief Kim Jong-cheol as Deputy Commissioner General of the Korean National Police Agency, and Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency Chief Ko Bum-seok as Chief of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.

Ko Pyeong-ki, head of the Jeju Provincial Police Agency—where a missing person case was falsely closed—was initially slated for promotion to senior superintendent general, but was ultimately left off the final list.
