A U.S. airstrike in southern Iran hit a private residence where a wedding was taking place, resulting in massive civilian casualties, Iran's state-run IRNA news agency reported on the 1st local time.

Ahmad Nafisi, the deputy governor for political, security, and social affairs of Hormozgan Province, stated, "A U.S. airstrike on a wedding venue in Kuhestak, Sirik County, killed 2 people and injured more than 50 others."

Deputy Governor Nafisi expressed concern that the death toll could rise further as some of the injured are in critical condition.

Regarding the situation at the scene, he explained, "Fifteen ambulances were dispatched to rescue and support the victims, and debris clearance and search operations have now been fully completed."

Some of the injured civilians were transferred to a nearby hospital in Minab for intensive medical treatment.

Later, the Fars News Agency reported that the death toll from the wedding venue strike had risen to 4.
