Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) warned on September 1 (local time) that the United States "will regret" its new military strikes carried out around the Strait of Hormuz.

Shortly after successive explosions were observed in and around the Strait of Hormuz and various areas to its east, IRGC Spokesperson Hossein Mohebi posted on X (formerly Twitter) that "a harsh punishment awaits the aggressors, and the U.S. will regret its new attacks."

The Khatam al-Anbia Central Headquarters, which exercises unified command over the Iranian armed forces, also issued a statement threatening to "impose a heavy price on the American enemy" and deliver "a devastating and fatal blow to the cowardly and wicked American enemy that launched airstrikes on Sistan and Baluchestan province and Hormozgan province."

The statement continued, "We have repeatedly stated that we will never compromise the rights of the Iranian people under any circumstances, and our resolve in this regard is firm," adding, "The enemy nation, the United States, will pay a heavy price."

The U.S. Central Command posted on X that day, "U.S. forces began strikes against IRGC targets at noon Eastern Time."

Earlier, Iranian media reported that sounds of explosions were heard in Bandar Abbas, home to a major southern port, and Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz.

Sepah News, a media outlet affiliated with the IRGC, reported that a fish meal factory on Qeshm Island, as well as a fishing boat pier and port management platform in Sirik, were targeted in the airstrikes.
