Ahead of the US-China summit scheduled for this month, Chinese Premier Li Qiang has emphasized cooperation between the two countries.

According to Xinhua News Agency on the 1st local time, Premier Li met with a delegation from the board of directors of the US-China Business Council in Beijing, stating that "the essence of US-China economic and trade relations is mutual benefit and win-win results," and adding that "strengthening cooperation is both an inherent demand and the correct choice for both sides."

Premier Li noted that the Chinese market is large and new, stating, "We welcome US businesses to actively seize opportunities and vigorously explore the Chinese market."

He went on to say, "Given the massive scale of US-China economic cooperation, it is normal for a certain degree of friction and conflict to arise," urging that "solutions can only be found through mutual respect, understanding, and strengthened communication and negotiation."

Premier Li also conveyed, "We want to actively push to resolve the reasonable demands of US companies operating in China while safeguarding a market environment that ensures fair competition in accordance with the law."

At the same time, he called on the United States, expressing hope that it would "meet us halfway, address China's concerns through practical actions, and jointly implement the outcomes of the two countries' economic and trade negotiations well."

Premier Li also mentioned that a series of important common understandings were reached at the US-China summit in May, stating, "We want to strengthen strategic communication and mutually beneficial cooperation, properly manage differences, build a constructive and strategically stable US-China relationship, and achieve more substantive outcomes."

Chinese President Xi Jinping is scheduled to visit the United States later this month to hold a summit with US President Donald Trump.

Attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit held in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, President Xi targeted US unilateralism by advocating for "equal and orderly multipolarity in the world."
