A man in his 30s has been arrested for allegedly murdering his wife with a weapon while they were undergoing divorce proceedings. The wife had reported her husband to the police for domestic violence multiple times and was staying at a separate residence. It was reported that the man tracked down her new address through divorce litigation documents.

A man gets off a motorcycle, enters a building wearing a helmet, and emerges shortly after to quickly ride away on his motorcycle.

At around 7:17 AM today (September 1), a man in his 30s, identified as A, stabbed and killed his estranged wife with a weapon at a multi-family housing unit in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province.

The victimized woman was stabbed on these stairs.

Bloodstains from the incident remain visible on the window frame.

The young child who was present at the scene is reportedly uninjured.

Mr. A, who fled immediately after the crime, was apprehended by police at a motel in Suwon at around 11:40 AM, 4 hours and 20 minutes after the report was filed.

Mr. A, a current public official, was reportedly attempting to take his own life at the time of his arrest.

The deceased wife had reported Mr. A to the police a total of four times from March of last year until recently, claiming she suffered domestic violence, including intimidation.

However, police stated that she consistently expressed her wish not to have Mr. A punished.

The wife, who had separated from Mr. A and initiated divorce proceedings, received a smart watch after consulting with a police officer over concerns that her address might have been exposed during the service of legal documents.

The court had also issued temporary protection orders, including separating their residences and prohibiting him from coming within 100 meters.

On the day of the incident, the wife encountered Mr. A and used her smart watch to make an emergency report, but ultimately could not prevent the tragic outcome.
