Rescue workers reach their hands through the shattered building debris, and soon, a mud-covered young child reveals her face.

This is the moment when 5-year-old Manisha was rescued after a full 60 hours in the Timure region of northern Rasuwa, Nepal, which was struck by massive floods.

Only Manisha was rescued, leaving the survival status of her parents unconfirmed, but the SBS reporting team met Manisha and her family at a hospital in the capital city of Kathmandu.

At the moment when a massive debris flow swallowed the village, Manisha's mother was away at work, and Manisha's father was harvesting coriander in a field behind their house.

Although her left arm is fractured and her entire body is covered in wounds, Manisha—who brought hope to Nepal as well as the whole world—is now receiving treatment and recovering while hugging a teddy bear.

At the hospital where Manisha is hospitalized, 71 injured patients, including two children, are receiving treatment.
