The Gilt-Bronze Standing Bodhisattva from the Seonrimwonsji temple site, which revealed itself to the world after 1,100 years.
In Part 1, we looked at how to appreciate this magnificent bodhisattva statue
and how it was discovered.
However, at the time of excavation, the bodhisattva was covered in dirt and bronze patina, making it unrecognizable to anyone.
Its ankles were broken and separated from the pedestal, and the ornate halo was shattered into numerous pieces.
How did this bodhisattva regain the appearance it has today?
Through advanced scientific techniques like X-rays and CT scans,
as well as the painstaking process of peeling away the bronze patina layer by layer under a microscope,
it is said to have recovered its current form thanks to the efforts of countless people.
In Part 2, we explore the journey of how fragments buried in piles of dirt
recovered their original golden radiance.
Ah, and if you haven't seen Part 1 yet,
we recommend watching it first.
