Unification Church Leader Han Hak-ja, who was sentenced to two years in prison in the first trial on charges including handing over a Chanel bag to Kim Keonhee to lobby for pending issues concerning the church, will maintain her un-detained status.

The 27th Criminal Settlement Division of the Seoul Central District Court (Presiding Judge Woo In-sung) extended the period of suspension of the execution of detention for Leader Han.

Although Leader Han was sentenced to prison and her request for bail was dismissed, the period for the suspension of the execution of detention granted due to deteriorating health remains valid until tomorrow (the 2nd), meaning she will not be taken into custody immediately.

With the court's decision today, Leader Han will not be imprisoned for the time being.

Previously, Leader Han was granted the suspension of the execution of detention in November of last year and February of this year due to health reasons, and the period has been extended multiple times since March.

Leader Han was sentenced to a total of two years in prison in the first trial after being found guilty of charges that included delivering valuables to Kim Keonhee and former People Power Party lawmaker Kweon Seong-dong for the purpose of lobbying for pending Unification Church issues.
