The total death toll from the massive floods that struck the Himalayan mountainous region along the Nepal-China border has surpassed 1,000.

According to the AP on the 1st local time, Nepal's Disaster Management Authority announced that the death toll from the floods in the region has risen to 987.

Combined with the 16 deaths on the Chinese side, the total death toll stands at 1,003.

The number of missing persons increased to a total of 4,462, including 3,916 on the Nepali side and 546 in China.
