KBO Announces August MVP Nominees, Including Kim Do-young and Choi Min-seok

Eight professional baseball players who delivered stellar performances through the heat wave have been nominated for the 2026 Shinhan SOL KBO League August Monthly Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.

The competition features hitters Kim Do-young of the KIA Tigers, Koo Ja-wook of the Samsung Lions, Seo Geon-chang of the Kiwoom Heroes, and Victor Reyes of the Lotte Giants, alongside pitchers Pedro Avila of the SSG Landers, Chris Paddack of Samsung, Kwak 빈 of the Doosan Bears, and Choi Min-seok.

The monthly MVP winner is determined by combining fan votes and a vote by the Korea Baseball Writers Association. Fan voting is available starting from 10:00 a.m. today (the 1st) until midnight on the 6th through the Shinhan Bank mobile application.

The monthly MVP winner receives a prize of 3 million won and a commemorative trophy.

Additionally, a donation of 2 million won will be delivered in the name of the winning domestic player to their alma mater middle school.

Koo Ja-wook recorded 3rd in batting average (0.403) and 1st in on-base percentage (0.519) in August, while Kim Do-young tied for 1st in home runs (6) and took sole possession of 1st in runs scored (16) and slugging percentage (0.714).

Reyes performed strongly with 1st in batting average (0.435), 2nd in hits (27), and 3rd in on-base percentage (0.470).

On the mound, Paddack posted an outstanding record of 2 wins, 1 loss, and a 1.00 ERA across 4 games, while Choi Min-seok secured 4 wins in 4 appearances.
