The musical "Elisabeth" has completed its strengthened casting lineup with the news of Park Ji-yeon and KIM JUNSU joining the show.

On September 1, production company EMK Musical Company announced that Park Ji-yeon will join as Empress Elisabeth, and KIM JUNSU will join as Der Tod (Death). With these additions, the role of Empress Elisabeth will be played by a four-member cast including existing members Lina, Lee Ji-hye, and Lee Ji-soo alongside Park Ji-yeon. The role of Death will also feature a four-member cast, with KIM JUNSU joining existing members Kai, Seo Kyung-su, and Go Eun-sung.

Park Ji-yeon, who has established herself as one of South Korea's top musical actors, will take on the role of Empress Elisabeth. Having proven her wide acting spectrum and exceptional vocals in various works such as the musicals "Once", "Maybe Happy Ending", and "Dracula", Park will step onto the "Elisabeth" stage for the first time this season. Based on her detailed emotional acting and deep vocals, she is expected to delicately portray the journey of Empress Elisabeth as she moves toward her own life and freedom amidst the constraints of her era and social status.

KIM JUNSU, regarded as one of the actors representing Korean musicals, has returned as Death. Having consistently appeared in "Elisabeth" starting from the premiere in 2012, followed by performances in 2013, 2018, and the 10th-anniversary performance in 2022, KIM JUNSU has established himself as an actor representing the production by building his own unique portrayal of Death through his peerless tone, explosive vocals, and strong stage presence.

Notably, KIM JUNSU previously left a strong impression in the role of Death when he won the Best Actor award at the 18th The Musical Awards for "Elisabeth" during its 2012 premiere.

The musical "Elisabeth" is based on the life of Empress Elisabeth of Austria, depicting the solitude hidden behind the glamorous imperial court and the yearning for freedom. Through its original premise of adding the fantasy entity "Der Tod (Death)" to the life of a historical figure, the production densely unfolds the process of a human searching for her own life and freedom within the constraints of her era and social status. It will be performed at Seoul's Blue Square Woori Financial Hall until November 15.
