The personal information of Zheng Changcheng (31), a Chinese university lecturer who was arrested on charges of murdering a Chinese female student who took his class and mutilating her body, was revealed today (September 1).

The Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency posted the suspect Zheng Changcheng's name, mugshot, age, and other details on its website today.

The previous day, the police held a disclosure deliberation committee and decided to release his personal information, stating, "The brutality of the crime and the severity of the damage are recognized, and there is sufficient evidence," adding, "We decided to disclose the personal information by comprehensively considering the public interest, such as crime prevention."

The personal information will be posted on the Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency website until October 1.

Zheng Changcheng was arrested on August 25 on charges of murdering a 25-year-old Chinese female student surnamed A in his studio apartment in Hayang-eup, Gyeongsan, in the early hours of August 20, mutilating her body, and abandoning the remains in wooded areas and dumpsters in Gunpo, Gyeonggi Province, and Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk Province.


He is also accused of filing a false report to disrupt the investigation, traveling to Dongdaegu Station dressed in women's clothing, and turning off the victim's mobile phone.

The police applied five charges against Zheng Changcheng, including murder, mutilation, abandonment, and concealment of a corpse, and obstruction of official duties by fraudulent means.
