Cheong Wa Dae Policy Chief Kim Yong-beom stepped down from his position today (Sept. 1).

This comes approximately 15 months after he was appointed as the first policy chief upon the inauguration of the Lee Jae-myung administration.

Kang Yu-jung, senior presidential spokesperson, stated during a briefing today, "Chief Kim expressed his intent to resign yesterday, and President Lee Jae-myung accepted his resignation today."

The backdrop of his resignation is reportedly linked to deteriorating public sentiment stemming from financial market turmoil caused by single-stock leverage ETFs.
