An arrest warrant has been rejected for an octogenarian husband accused of murdering his wife in her 70s whom he had cared for through illness for decades in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province.

According to the police, the Namyangju Branch of the Uijeongbu District Court conducted a pre-arrest interrogation of the suspect (warrant substantive examination) on August 31 for the man in his 80s, identified as A, who faces murder charges, and dismissed the warrant, stating that there is "no risk of flight or destruction of evidence."

A is accused of killing his wife in her 70s, identified as B, at a villa in Namyangju on August 29.

At the time, emergency responders dispatched at 12:15 p.m. following a family report that B's condition was critical transported her to a hospital, but she died while on the way.

During this process, signs of criminal activity were found on B's body, and the police urgently arrested her husband A, who lived with her.

The police found that B had suffered from chronic illnesses that made normal daily life, including movement and communication, difficult, and that A had been nursing his wife for decades.

The police plan to release A, hand him over to his family, and wrap up the investigation without detention before forwarding the case to the prosecution soon.
