Homes have been flooded and residents isolated in South Chungcheong, South Jeolla, and Gwangju. Casualties have also been reported due to rain-slicked highway accidents.

Yesterday (the 31st), heavy rainfall was recorded across South Chungcheong Province, with 140 mm in Seocheon, 115 mm in Nonsan, 111 mm in Buyeo, and 102 mm in Gyeryong.

More than 40 reports of fallen trees and flooding were received across various parts of South Chungcheong Province.

This is a vinyl greenhouse in Nonsan, South Chungcheong Province, which suffered damage from gales last week.

Rainwater continued to pour into the collapsed greenhouse, turning the entire area into a watery mess.

Lettuce ready for shipment is pulled out by the roots with just a slight tug.

Farmers are left helpless as the heavy downpour continues, with recovery only possible once the rain stops.

[Kim Do-yeop / Lettuce Farmer in Nonsan]: "We need the rain to let up a bit so we can quickly start recovery efforts, but more rain is in the forecast, and even if it stops, the prospect of demolition and cleanup leaves us feeling completely overwhelmed."

In Yeonggwang-gun, South Jeolla Province, torrential rain poured down at a rate exceeding 100 mm per hour.

A fierce current of water surrounded a residential home, leaving two residents stranded until they were rescued by firefighters, while reports of flooding and landslide damage continued across the area.

At around 11:10 a.m. yesterday, near the Gubong Tunnel on the Daejeon Nambubelt Expressway, a 4.5-ton cargo truck slipped on the rainy road and overturned, leaving the driver injured and transported to the hospital.

On the Seoul Ring Expressway in Hanam, Gyeonggi Province, a 7.5-ton cargo truck rear-ended a 12-ton cargo truck that had temporarily stopped due to the slippery road conditions, resulting in the death of the 7.5-ton truck driver, a man in his 70s.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety reported that there were over 470 emergency dispatches nationwide yesterday due to rain damage such as flooded homes and rockslides, urging strict caution as strong rain is forecasted to focus mainly on the west coast of South Chungcheong Province this morning.
