Heavy rainfall continuing since the 28th has resulted in two missing persons, along with a series of property damages including flooded homes and damaged facilities.

According to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, as of 10:00 p.m. yesterday (August 31), a 73-year-old man who went out to manage a rice paddy water gate in Jeongeup, Jeollabuk-do, and a 67-year-old man who was working in a vinyl greenhouse in Gochang, Jeollabuk-do, lost contact and remain missing.

Facility damage also continued.

In Nonsan and Buyeo, South Chungcheong Province, gusts on the 28th provisionally damaged one house, one warehouse, and 200 facility greenhouses.

The scale of property damage is currently under investigation.

Fire authorities have carried out 525 safety measures in total, including 221 cases involving road obstacles, 58 cases of water supply and drainage support, 42 cases of flooded homes, and 204 cases of earth, sand, and rockfalls.

As of 9:00 p.m. last night, 83 people from 60 households across 11 cities, counties, and districts in 6 cities and provinces temporarily evacuated.

Among them, 29 people from 18 households have not yet been able to return home.

Twenty-two people from 13 households are staying in temporary housing facilities.

Two flights and 3 vessels across 1 ferry route between Gunsan and Eocheong were also restricted due to worsening weather conditions.

Access to 1,956 hazardous areas, including riverside paths, riverside parking lots, and riverside roads, remains restricted.

Expressways and railways are operating normally.

The cumulative precipitation from the 28th to 10:00 p.m. last night reached 579.5 mm in Yeonggwang (Jeonnam-Gwangju), 347.7 mm in Gunsan (Jeollabuk-do), 307.5 mm in Seocheon (South Chungcheong Province), 280.0 mm in Buyeo (South Chungcheong Province), and 264.6 mm in Boseong (Jeonnam-Gwangju).

Daily precipitation on August 31 was highest in Yeonggwang (Jeonnam-Gwangju) at 344.0 mm, followed by Hongseong (South Chungcheong Province) at 195.5 mm, Gunsan (Jeollabuk-do) at 189.5 mm, Gochang (Jeollabuk-do) at 187.5 mm, Buan (Jeollabuk-do) at 163.5 mm, and Seocheon (South Chungcheong Province) at 157.5 mm.

The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters activated Level 1 at 5:00 p.m. on the 30th and upgraded the heavy rain disaster crisis alert from "Attention" to "Caution" to respond.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety plans to continuously monitor weather conditions while continuing situation management, including inspections and access controls in hazardous areas.
