Choi Ye-jin has raised expectations for the upcoming Asian Para Games in October by winning a silver medal at the Boccia World Championships, a sport for athletes with severe disabilities.

Boccia is a sport for athletes with severe disabilities where competitors aim to throw leather balls as close as possible to a white target ball.

South Korea is a powerhouse in the sport, having won gold medals in 10 consecutive Paralympic Games, and recently hosted the World Championships domestically for the first time.

Choi Ye-jin delivered an impressive silver-winning performance in front of her home fans.

In the final against a Thai opponent, the match was tied 3 to 3, leading into an extra end. However, a decisive shot attempting to knock the opponent's red ball far away narrowly failed, resulting in a comeback defeat.

Choi has previously won two gold medals and one silver medal at the Paralympic Games, though she did not compete in the recent Paris Games.

With this silver medal, she signaled her return, shedding tears of emotion and brightening her prospects for the Asian Para Games in October.
