Actor Choi Hyun-wook has landed in hot water once again after hosting a social media live broadcast while intoxicated yesterday morning (August 30).

Appearing with messy hair and dazed eyes, Choi continued to drink from a glass of whiskey during the broadcast.

Clearly under the influence, he admitted, "I'm drunk. I'm completely wasted," adding, "There's no one to stop me at this hour, and I'm so happy."

He also made self-deprecating remarks about his appearance, saying, "I look so ugly right now. It's because I'm a pig." When fans expressed concern, he brushed it off, saying, "Koreans are sleeping right now. Nobody is awake at 7:28 AM," and continued the broadcast regardless.

Immediately following the broadcast, fierce debate erupted online regarding Choi's heavily intoxicated live stream.

Opinions were sharply divided. Some defended him as an adult freely communicating with fans, asking, "What's wrong with turning on a live broadcast to chat with fans while having a drink alone?" Meanwhile, critics argued that his behavior was reckless for an actor with many underage fans, questioning, "Is there any need to show a disheveled appearance while drinking?"

This is not the first time Choi Hyun-wook's conduct has sparked controversy.

In 2023, he faced fines for illegally discarding a cigarette butt on the street and subsequently posted an apology.

In 2024, he uploaded a photo of a Bearbrick collectible on his social media, causing a stir when his nude silhouette was reflected and exposed on the surface of the item.

Last year, he drew criticism after throwing a fast pitch toward a child batter while serving as a ceremonial pitcher at a professional baseball game.

Choi rose to stardom through hit works like Twenty-Five Twenty-One and Weak Hero Class 1, but controversies continue to follow him.
