SBS's "My Genie Secretary" has kicked off a strong box-office run right from its new season premiere, conquering TV, OTT, and digital platforms alike.
Kicking off its new season on the 28th, the SBS Friday variety show "My Genie Secretary" secured a top spot by ranking second overall on Netflix's "Top 10 Series in South Korea Today" and first in the variety show category. In addition, cumulative views for key clips on digital platforms surpassed 7 million views in just two days of broadcast.
Ratings also saw a significant increase. Recording a 1.7% target rating for viewers aged 20 to 49 and a peak rating of 4.4% per minute, the 2049 viewership rating in particular achieved more than double the score of the previous season's final episode, proving its overwhelming popularity.
Returning after about seven months, "My Genie Secretary" shone through the nonchalant yet close "errand-running chemistry" between Lee Seo-jin and Kim Kwang-kyu, along with the honest and confident charm of the first "my star," BIBI. A variety of highlights drew laughter, ranging from the blunt remark BIBI delivered when Lee Seo-jin said he did not know her hit song "Bam Yang Gang," to behind-the-scenes footage of their Waterbomb performance, and a playful debate with Lee Seo-jin surrounding the origin of university names.
Meanwhile, episode 2, airing on September 4, features actor Cha Tae-hyun stepping up as the new "my star." Raising anticipation, the episode is set to feature Cha Tae-hyun announcing the payment of part-time wages for the first time by asking, "How am I supposed to pay the part-time manager's wages?", alongside Lee Seo-jin and Kim Kwang-kyu winding up having to serve him barley tea, plus a surprise appearance by his close friend Jang Hyuk.
"My Genie Secretary" airs every Friday at 11:10 PM KST.
