As heavy rain battered Gochang, North Jeolla Province, Gochang-gun issued an evacuation order for residents near Jujincheon Stream in Asan-myeon.

At 9:30 a.m. today (August 31), Gochang-gun sent out an emergency safety text message stating, "There is a risk of flooding," and urging "Residents near Jujincheon Stream to immediately evacuate to a safe place."

The county is guiding residents to seek shelter at nearby village community centers and other safe locations.

According to the Jeonju Meteorological Administration, 225.5 mm of rain has fallen in Gochang-gun from the previous day until 9:00 a.m. today.

With more rain forecasted, a heavy rain warning is currently in effect.
