People Power Party Floor Leader Jeong Jeom-sik criticized President Lee Jae-myung's cabinet reshuffle yesterday (the 30th) nominating ministers for six ministries as a "declaration of a total refusal to reform state affairs," adding, "This reshuffle is a 'subpar leftist coalition reshuffle' aimed at reviving approval ratings and saving Lee Jae-myung rather than reviving the livelihood economy."

During the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly this morning, Floor Leader Jeong sharpened his criticism, stating, "President Lee retained Cheong Wa Dae Policy Chief Kim Yong-beom, the main culprit behind the introduction of single-stock leverage ETFs (exchange-traded funds), and fast-tracked the promotion of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's 2nd Vice Minister, who served as the head of the urban housing bureau during his tenure as Gyeonggi Province governor, to minister in just nine months."

Floor Leader Jeong also pointed out, "President Lee retained the Minister of Unification, who undermines the ROK-U.S. alliance and national identity, and decided to entrust the ministry in charge of canceling trials to the vanguard of canceling the president's case indictments."

Regarding the inclusion of lawmakers from the Rebuilding Korea Party and the Basic Income Party in the reshuffle list, Jeong criticized, "It appears to be an intention to consolidate the pan-ruling-bloc leftist coalition by handing out positions to subpar personnel," asking, "You said you haven't taken care of the left side enough, and is this how you take care of things by dividing up positions?"

He added, "There is a strong intention to rally the left through factional, generational, and gender polarization like the Moon Jae-in administration and push for the cancellation of his own trial with that momentum."

Regarding the Democratic Party's demand that Supreme Court Chief Justice Cho Hee-dae re-nominate one of the candidates recommended by the Supreme Court Justice Recommendation Committee as a Supreme Court justice candidate, Floor Leader Jeong criticized, "If the president repeatedly rejects nominations and eliminates candidates one by one, it will ultimately result in the president choosing a Supreme Court justice at will," and added, "The demand for re-nomination is unconstitutional in itself and directly destroys the separation of powers."
