Following a U.S. military strike against Iran for the first time in about a month, Iran launched an immediate counterattack on the 31st local time by striking two U.S. military bases in Jordan.

Military tensions in the Middle East have escalated once again as Iran responded with a retaliatory operation to the resumption of U.S. military strikes against Iran.

In an official statement on the same day, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that it had attacked two U.S. military bases, including the King Hussein Air Base and the Al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan.

The Revolutionary Guard claimed that it used ballistic missiles and drones to destroy the bases' technical infrastructure, maintenance facilities, and fighter jet deployment sites, inflicting massive damage.

Iran's Press TV also broadcast breaking news that Iran had fired missiles targeting U.S. warships in the Strait of Hormuz.

The Revolutionary Guard specified that this attack was a retaliatory operation in response to the U.S. attack on Larak Island.

It emphasized, "Acts of aggression and crimes cannot weaken the Islamic Republic's control over the Strait of Hormuz," adding, "Any act of aggression will be met with an even more decisive retaliation."

Immediately following the IRGC's announcement, Jordan stated that it had intercepted eight missiles within its airspace.

There has been no official reaction from the United States yet.

However, citing U.S. sources, Fox News correspondent Trey Yingst reported on X (formerly Twitter) regarding Iran's attack on Jordan, stating, "There has been no significant damage so far, and nearly all incoming missiles were intercepted."

Immediately following Iran's attack, neighboring countries such as Qatar also entered a state of high alert.

Qatar's Ministry of Interior raised its security alert level and urged residents to stay indoors, while reports emerged that missile attack alerts were also issued in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

On the night of the 30th, the U.S. military launched airstrikes against two IRGC missile launchers on Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz in southern Iran.

Iran's Tasnim News Agency reported that at least two people were killed and two others were injured in the attack.

This latest clash occurred as the U.S. struck Iran once again, roughly a month after conducting airstrikes in response to Iran's attempted attack on U.S. military positions on July 29.

Although the U.S. subsequently appeared to lean toward economic sanctions rather than military pressure, this latest strike against Iran has significantly heightened the likelihood of renewed military tensions between the U.S. and Iran.
