An oil slick measuring 1 kilometer in length has been reported in the waters near Jangja Bridge in Okdo-myeon, Gunsan, North Jeolla Province, prompting the Coast Guard to launch an investigation into the cause.

Deploying coastal patrol boats and other resources to the scene, the Coast Guard assessed the extent of the pollution and conducted containment operations to remove the oil slick.

Authorities plan to investigate vessels that passed through the affected area to determine the cause and circumstances of the incident.
