A Korail worker was crushed to death by a train this morning at Uiwang Station on the Gyeongbu Line. In Jeju, a man in his 20s was found dead three days after being reported missing.

Site control lines have been set up around the tracks, and officials, including railway police, are inspecting the area.

At around 7:20 a.m. today, a Korail male employee in his 50s, surnamed A, died on the tracks at Uiwang Station on the Gyeongbu Line.

Worker A was reportedly performing a communication role with the train engineer during train composition and coupling-uncoupling operations when he was crushed by the train in the fatal accident.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport dispatched its railway bureau director and other officials to the accident site to investigate the exact cause of the incident. The Ministry of Employment and Labor is also verifying whether regulations were followed, such as the two-person work crew rule.

An official from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport stated, "We express deep regret over this accident," adding, "As a similar accident has occurred again despite our ongoing measures to prevent deaths among railway workers, we will thoroughly investigate the cause and take strict action with a zero-tolerance policy."

At around 3:50 p.m. today, the body of a man in his 20s was found along the coast near Haye Port in Seogwipo, Jeju.

Police, who received a report at around 2:10 p.m. yesterday stating that a son was unreachable, checked CCTV footage showing the man leaving his home with fishing gear the day before yesterday.

Police subsequently located the man's vehicle near Haye Port and found the body while searching the surrounding areas using helicopters, drones, and vessels.

Based on statements from family members that the man regularly went fishing, police believe he may have suffered an accident while fishing.
