According to the Jeju Provincial Police Agency on the 29th, police conducted a reenactment on the 27th at the palm farm in Hallim-eup, Jeju City, where a person surnamed Chang was found dead, to verify whether hanging was physically possible.
Police reportedly carried out a detailed reenactment and concluded that hanging was not impossible.
Police earlier stated, based on the autopsy results from the National Forensic Service, that Chang is presumed to have died by hanging from a palm tree.
During the on-site forensic investigation, they also pulled directly on the palm tree trunk to check its strength, concluding that the upper part of the tree was sufficiently capable of supporting a person's weight.
However, some have raised claims that it would be impossible to hang oneself there, noting that the palm farm is a secluded and dark place for a woman to visit alone at night, and that the palm tree trunks are weak and feature many sharp parts.
Chang's family and boyfriend also stated that Chang was afraid of this palm farm and usually avoided going there.
Chang was found dead at the palm farm on the 24th, following the initial missing person report in May that had been closed as a false report.
