An elderly man in his 80s has been arrested by police on charges of murdering his wife in her 70s in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province.

The Namyangju Nambu Police Station announced today (August 29) that it has emergency-arrested and is currently questioning an 80-year-old man, identified as B, on charges of murdering his wife in her 70s, A.

Earlier today at around 12:15 p.m., a report was received stating that a woman in her 70s, A, was found dead at a villa in Hwado-eup, Namyangju.

Police dispatched to the scene following the report confirmed circumstances indicating that B had killed A during an on-site investigation and subsequently emergency-arrested him.

It was reported that A had been suffering from a chronic illness for a long time, leaving her unable to move or communicate easily, and that her husband B had been caring for her for decades.

Police are currently investigating the specific details and motives of the crime involving B.
