Amid growing suspicions surrounding the death of a woman in her 30s, surnamed Jang, in connection with the "Jeju missing person false case closure incident," it has been revealed that the police even conducted a reenactment experiment to test whether hanging from a palm tree trunk is actually possible.

According to the Jeju Provincial Police Agency, the police on the 27th reenacted the suspected method of suicide at the palm tree farm in Hallim-eup, Jeju City, where Jang's body was found.

Based on the posture of the body when found and the autopsy results, the police have leaned toward the conclusion that there were no signs of foul play.

The police believe that Jang took her own life by hanging herself in a sitting position after attaching a rope, which she brought from home, to a palm tree trunk.

While the autopsy report from the National Forensic Service (NFS) showed no particular fractures, a fracture was found in the remaining part of the hyoid bone.

Also known as the hyoid, it is a very thin bone, and the NFS explained that photographs from the autopsy showed the middle section in a separated state.

However, suspicions of foul play continue to persist.

In particular, doubts have been raised due to the characteristics of the Canary Island date palms found at the site, which have many thorns that make access difficult and make it hard to suspend heavy objects.

In response, the police conducted a strength test by pulling on the palm tree trunk during the initial crime scene investigation when the body was discovered.

It was confirmed that on the 27th, the police went a step further by selecting a similar tree near the palm tree presumed to have been used by Jang for suicide, and conducted a reenactment experiment using a similarly shaped trunk, a rope of identical strength, and the same weight.

Meanwhile, Police Officer Bu partially admitted to the allegations, stating that he had not recently spoken with Jang or the parties involved in the missing person case of the man in his 60s.

The police plan to focus on uncovering Officer Bu's motive for the crime and investigating any additional cases of false case closures.
