At around 1:30 a.m. today (the 29th), a fire broke out on the 14th floor of an apartment building in Usan-dong, Buk-gu, Jeonnam-Gwangju.

Due to the fire, a man in his 80s living in the unit was transported to a hospital by fire authorities while in a state of reduced consciousness.

As smoke filled the building, about 30 residents evacuated the apartment on their own.

The fire, which burned household belongings and other items, was completely extinguished 18 minutes after the report was received.

Fire authorities are investigating the exact cause of the fire.
