Gyeonggi Province announced on the 27th that a total of 48.9 kilometers of road construction plans across seven projects it has been pursuing have passed the government's preliminary feasibility study.

The projects include a 12.3-kilometer stretch of National Supporting Provincial Road 57 between Wonsam and Mapyeong in Cheoin-gu, Yongin; a 5.2-kilometer stretch of National Supporting Provincial Road 86 between Wabu and Hwado 2 in Namyangju; a 5.3-kilometer stretch of National Route 38 between Oseong and Godeok in Pyeongtaek; a 3.8-kilometer stretch of National Route 45 between Dunpo in Asan and Paengseong in Pyeongtaek; a 2.5-kilometer stretch of National Route 48 in Punggok-ri, Gochon-myeon, Gimpo; an 8.2-kilometer bypass road for National Route 38 in Gongdo, Anseong; and an 11.6-kilometer stretch of National Supporting Provincial Road 23 between Daedeok in Anseong and Namsa in Yongin.

The Ministry of Economy and Finance held the 7th Fiscal Investment Evaluation Committee on the 26th and approved these roads among the 26 projects applied for by Gyeonggi Province.

The province explained that having been judged to have validity for implementation with national funds, it can now proceed with subsequent procedures such as establishing basic plans, designing, budgeting and securing funds, and obtaining permits.

In particular, the roads in Yongin, Anseong, and Pyeongtaek serve as metropolitan transportation infrastructure linked to the semiconductor industry.

The remaining roads were also planned as lane improvements, expansions, and new constructions are necessary due to increasing vehicle traffic.

The province plans to continue consultations with relevant organizations so that these road construction plans are reflected in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's "6th National Road and National Supporting Provincial Road Construction Plan (2026–2030)" in the second half of this year.

Gyeonggi Governor Choo Mi-ae stated, "With this preliminary feasibility study passing, we have secured the core road network to support the competitiveness of the semiconductor industry belt, and we will do our best to ensure final reflection in the national plan and push forward with subsequent procedures."
