▲ Massive Flooding in Nepal
The casualties from a massive landslide in Gyirong County, Xigaze, in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China, have risen to 3 dead and 558 missing.
China Central Television (CCTV) reported that as of 8:00 a.m. today, local time, provisional figures show 3 people dead and 558 missing due to the landslide.
Among the missing, 260 have been identified as foreign nationals.
Compared to the figures at 8:00 p.m. the previous day, which stood at 3 dead and 265 missing, the number of missing persons more than doubled overnight.
Rescue authorities have rescued 2 residents and are continuing their search for the missing and assessment of the damage.
The landslide occurred at around 10:30 a.m. the previous day on the Nepal side, sweeping through the area of Gyirong County, Xigaze, in the Tibet Autonomous Region near the border between China and Nepal.
