The DNA of a police officer, identified as Inspector A, who was arrested on charges of falsely closing a missing person case in Jeju, has been detected in the women's restroom of the police station where he worked.

According to the Jeju Provincial Police Agency today (the 27th), DNA extracted from palm prints found on both upper walls of a toilet stall in the women's restroom at the Jeju Seobu Police Station was investigated and confirmed to match that of Inspector A.

In addition to the charge of falsely closing the missing person case, Inspector A is also under investigation for violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes (trespassing in multiple-use places for sexual purposes).

Inspector A was caught on around July 22 after entering the women's restroom at the Jeju Seobu Police Station and encountering a female police officer who was walking inside at the time.

Police conducted a forensic examination of the interior of the restroom and collected palm prints from the upper part of the toilet stall and the ceiling.

However, it was reported that collecting fingerprints was difficult due to dust.

Inspector A is denying the charges, stating, "I did not enter for sexual purposes."

Inspector A is also suspected of falsely closing a missing person report for a woman in her 30s surnamed Jang on May 15, as well as a missing person report for a man in his 60s.

Ms. Jang was found dead on the 24th, 104 days after the initial missing person report, and the body of the man in his 60s was also recovered on the 22nd, 51 days after he went missing.
