False statements made by Police Officer A of the Jeju Provincial Police Agency, who was arrested on charges of falsely closing a missing persons case, are continuously being uncovered.

According to the Jeju Provincial Police Agency today (the 27th), following the arrest of Officer A on the 25th, police have been conducting an intensive investigation, including bringing Officer A to the Jeju Provincial Police Agency today for questioning.

Officer A stated that he directly spoke on the phone with a woman in her 30s surnamed Jang, who was reported missing last May. However, the autopsy results of Jang's body estimated that she had already died before the missing persons report was filed.

Officer A is reportedly maintaining his initial claim that he spoke with Jang until recently, but the autopsy results have severely undermined the credibility of his statements.

No records of phone calls between Officer A and Jang were found on their respective mobile phones either.

In response, Officer A is denying the charges, stating, "I made a safety-check call, but I don't remember what communication method was used."

The police plan to deploy a profiler to uncover Officer A's motive for the crime.

Following Officer A's statements, the police checked all communication devices capable of making calls within the working environment at the time, but no call records have been found so far.

In addition, immediately after closing the case, Officer A completely deleted information related to Jang from the missing persons profiling system and entered a code to the effect that she "died in a traffic accident."

Even while claiming to have verified her safety through a phone call, he entered a code indicating a traffic accident fatality in the management list.

Officer A was arrested on charges of falsely closing the initial missing persons report for Jang on May 15, and also falsely closing a missing persons report for a man in his 60s on July 2nd.
